We all get dressed for Bill

Bill Cunningham, that is.

Before The Sartorialist, before Garance Doré, before fucking Fashion Squad there was Bill who took real photos of real people in real fashion. Real meaning bona fide. Genuine! Because the real stuff is in the streets, it’s true. In the streets is a natural habitat for us to go and do like no one’s watching, all the while knowing everyone will be watching, because you look so damn good.

There is a new documentary coming out on the long-time New York Times columnist and reclusive genius. Unfortunately it’s going to be very hard to get at, as it is only showing at a small number of theatres in the USA. Though, the trailer is heartfelt and definitely worth a watch.

I only know about him what I’ve found on the internet (and my internet-patience is very, very low), but in watching some of his On The Street video blogs for The New York Times I find that he sounds incredibly happy. I bet, that in the entire world, there is no better job for him than this one!
